1. Download OpenVPN Connect
The first thing you need to do in order to connect to Vilfo's VPN server is to install OpenVPN Connect for iOS.
2. Run OpenVPN Connect
When OpenVPN Connect is started for the first time, you will see:
Click On OVPN Profile.
3. Download the configuration file
First, make sure that Vilfo's VPN server is started.
Go to Menu -> VPN Server in Vilfo and press the Download config button.
You'll have the choice of choosing an operating system, and an OpenVPN version. Select Other systems as the operating system. As for the OpenVPN version, select OpenVPN 2.4 or newer.
4. Import the downloaded profile
When you have downloaded the file you want, chose to open it and select the option to import it into OpenVPN Connect for iOS. There are two ways to do that
If you downloaded it on your phone
If you downloaded the configuration file on your phone, simply open it and select the option Import to OpenVPN Connect
If you downloaded it on your computer
If you downloaded the file onto your computer, it is a little bit more complicated.
- Login to icloud.com in your browser, or install iCloud on your computer
- Navigate to iCloud Drive
- Click-and-drag the file vilfo.ovpn that you downloaded
- On your phone, open the Files app
- Click on iCloud Drive
- Click on the vilfo file
- In the upper-right corner, click the Export button
- Select Copy to OpenVPN
Once you have imported the file, it'll be opened in OpenVPN Connect. Click the Add button.
5. Vilfo Credentials
Once you have imported the file, you will be prompted with a “Profile successfully imported” message.
Check Save password and enter the username and password you created under Settings -> Users in Vilfo. For more information about creating new users, see Adding new users.
Click on Add.
6. Connecting to Vilfo
Click on the toggle button next to your profile in order to connect to the VPN server in Vilfo.
7. Finished
You should now be connected to Vilfo's VPN server. You can now place the device in a group under Devices to safely browse the internet using your VPN provider just like you would any other device on your network.
